Fry Phrases

As I blog, our state is right in the middle of a Winter Weather Advisory (Snow and Ice). We will have a snow day on tomorrow. Yes! So thought I’d share a few things. Smile

I read Ladybug Teacher Files blog about embedding a document right into your blog…so here it goes. I hope it works. I use Fry Phrases all the time. Each of my students get a set of the first four sets of phrases. They can read them during free time, or quiz each other. They can also time each other to see how many phrases they can read in a minute, we also use them during whole group games like Around the World. Hope this works and thanks for the tutorial!

  3. The high frequency words are great but I am SUPER excited about embedding documents in my blog. My county has a love/hate relationship with scribd. Looking forward to giving it a try tonight! Thank you.

??? How do you use them as Around the World...Do YOU display the cards? My kiddos LOVE the game everytime I add a new concept to it, so I KNOW they will enjoy this one too!
Thanks for all your great ideas.

  8. These phrases are great. Thanks for sharing. I use frequency phrases this time of year. Your phrases will get me going in a new direction. Was there another group, the listing said 4 and I see 3. If you have another, could you email it to me? Thanks.

  9. I am taking a second look at what I need to do to help with my firsties and their fluency. I'm just wondering how schools/teachers... decided what group of words 1st graders should know. My school doesn't really have a list and the Dolch Words are all that I really know that anyone at our school uses. I of course have heard of the Fry Words. Hope that this doesn't sound like a silly question. I've just wondered about this.

I love your blog and get so many ideas from it. Thank you so much for sharing all your wonderful ideas!
