Corrected Awesome Dinosaur Aw and Au Sort..and Alexander Graham Bell??

Those of you who use Reading Street will appreciate this(maybe not: depending on what floats your boat)…but every year I dread the last two stories in the fifth and final unit.

I think I block it out every year, then I’m so freshly horrified to remember that they’re coming up.  It takes jus (sic) a little too much to get excited about Alexander Graham Bell and Ben Franklin. I’m sorry. There, I said it. Is there anyone who’s feeling me on this?????

At any rate I did create this cute word work to go along with what we’re studying this week: Aw and Au. That’s a bit of a consolation. Click on the picture to download.

Here is the Lit Pack to accompany this weeks Reading Street Story. Click on the picture to download. Fixed the typo in the file Smile

Have a wonderful rest of the week! Twenty-four more days till the end of the year…I’m just saying. I wonder if I can find one of those countdown clocks to post on my blog?????

  1. We have Journeys, but I can relate because we are doing this Famous American power point with our first graders and it's making me want to poke my eyes out! Oh yeah, they are also supposed to present their power point in costume. SERIOUSLY?!

  2. Thank you for sharing your hard, creative work . You have an awesome site! You make planning for reading lessons very exciting. Next year I will retire after 30 years of teaching first grade... I know that with teachers as generous as you, our children's future is in good hands. Continued success to you.

  5. Amen! Ben Franklin if ok, but the story about Alexander Graham Bell is a yawner! I also have been teaching for eons of years and love your blog. The kids are what make it special.
thanks for all your hard work and sharing.

  6. They aren't the most exciting stories but at least they make sense. Mister Bones is a weird story. I hate that one!

  7. Lady in the Moon is my least favorite of them all. But when I opened up my folders for the last 2 stories they were almost empty.

BTW there is a typo..Oops...On the first page the of the lit pack still has the title for Simple Machines :)

  8. Thanks for all your work! I agree with you about these last 2 stories. Some of the stories in the series aren't anything I would pick but the Kg. stories are even worse!

  13. We just finished AGB & had a great time! Made paper cup phones and had a blast. Focused on inventions & my firsties came up with something they wanted to invent and then drew and wrote about it. They were totally into it...had. to make them put it aside to go to P.E. LOL!! Excited for Ben Franklin next week. Making a lapbook...they are so capable by this time of the year. I really love all the Rdng. St. stories. Even the ones I dread end up having an important message that tie the units together. Beginning my 35th year in the fall...still love it!
