There Are No Words

This is so not teaching related but I wanted to share with my blogging friends some of the devastation that hit our state over the last 9-10 hours. I have never seen anything like this in my life, and it has really hit home…both my aunt and a family friend lost  their homes today. But they are still here. Thank God. Keep Alabama in your thoughts and prayers.

Tornadoes tore through several Alabama cities on Wednesday, including Tuscaloosa, Birmingham and Cullman. (Source: WBRC)

Finally Found My Promethean Planet Upload!

I have finally located my Promethean Planet file…click on the picture and it will take you right to the flipchart. So now I know for future reference) it takes a couple days for the upload to appear :)

I plan to submit a few more this weekend.

Getting ready to hunker down as storms prepare to move into Alabama. We got our first wave early this morning. Prayers for safety would be greatly appreciated. God Bless.

Corrected Awesome Dinosaur Aw and Au Sort..and Alexander Graham Bell??

Those of you who use Reading Street will appreciate this(maybe not: depending on what floats your boat)…but every year I dread the last two stories in the fifth and final unit.

I think I block it out every year, then I’m so freshly horrified to remember that they’re coming up.  It takes jus (sic) a little too much to get excited about Alexander Graham Bell and Ben Franklin. I’m sorry. There, I said it. Is there anyone who’s feeling me on this?????

At any rate I did create this cute word work to go along with what we’re studying this week: Aw and Au. That’s a bit of a consolation. Click on the picture to download.

Have a wonderful rest of the week! Twenty-four more days till the end of the year…I’m just saying. I wonder if I can find one of those countdown clocks to post on my blog?????

Fishing for Addition Flip Chart

Okay, so I found out that TpT now has Active Board activities. So I’ve uploaded this flip chart to my TpT store for free.

But You Must Have ActivInspire Software in order to use this flip chart.

Click on the picture to download.

Because the original file was so big I had to condense it to four pages….but once you have it downloaded and open in ActiveInspire you can always duplicate the flipchart pages to suit your needs.

Math Stations

Here is a little snippet of what we are doing this week in math stations.

Station One: Promethean Board Fishing for Addition.

In this station the students grabbed fish for each side of the equation, then completed their addition sentence.IMG_2602

Station Two:Odd and Even Ladybugs.

Last week we worked on this flipchart. The students had to drag ladybugs onto the odd or even mat. Then decide if the number was odd or even. So, today they had to roll a 12-sided die and a six sided die then add the numbers together. After that, they had to draw ladybugs onto their mats, then tell if the number was odd or even.

Station Three: Chick Addition and Subtraction

IMG_2599

IMG_2603I used those cute little chick containers from The Dollar Tree. I put a pair of quiet(foam) dice inside. The students had to shake the chick. First they had to add the two numbers, then they had to subtract the two numbers.

Station Four: Rainbow Addition and Subtraction

If you’re like me and want your students to practice addition and subtraction….ALL THE TIME, here’s one of my math tubs for next week. I do this every April…the creative juices start flowing for the next year….sad I know.

Promethean Board Fun

In my last post I told you about my brand new Promethean Board! This weekend I did nothing but flip charts and wanted to share a few with you.

This is a missing addends activity. I watched a tutorial on how to make “Magic Revealers”. Too excited! I’m working on submitting some things to Promethean Planet…but in the meantime you can click here to download a copy of the recording sheet that accompanies this activity!

Weekly Graph

Every Monday there is a graph question the students answer and we complete different activities to go along with our graph. After we completed the graph we filled in individual graphs. Click here for a copy of our graph this week.

Word Work

Tomorrow in my guided reading groups the students will complete this word sorting activity. All they have to do is drag each chick under the right heading  I think we’ll just write the words on out small white boards.

More Word Work

Here is a contractions match we will complete in small groups on Wednesday. It’s a nice fun review for contractions. I plan to complete a recording sheet for this one…hopefully by tomorrow.

I hope to share more things. When I get some things submitted to Promethean Planet I’ll post and let you know! Have a great week!
