This past week was...well I'll just say it was something. I have been dealing with a classroom situation all school year but here's one thing I know for sure...God does answer prayers.
Anyway, we did manage to get in a little Valentine's Day fun. Here's a peek.
Thursday morning we sorted conversation hearts. We saved the actual eating of the hearts until lunchtime.
Then I gave the students a printout of a box of candy. They had to create a combination of ten using Hugs and Kisses. Sorry for the blurry picture. I think it was the end of the day...5:30 and I was still at school..so maybe I was a little tired.

Then we completed our individual graphing results sheets. I always make them write one thing they noticed about our weekly graph.
On Valentine's Day we completed our weekly bingo game. This week's phonics skill was comparative endings. Before the game the students wrote from a list of comparative endings words we'd studied during the week. Then I created a flip chart in which they had to pull a word from behind the cookie jar. If they had the word on their bingo sheet they covered it with a conversation heart. The first person to cover their entire board called out Valentine! They loved it!

These students are finding ten more and less, and one more and less.
Sorting true and false addition and subtraction sentences.
One of our Reading Street stories was I'm a Caterpillar. During small group instruction we completed sequence writing about the life cycle of a butterfly.
I hope you have a wonderful week ahead!
I hope the answer to your prayer was an end to that awful parent situation one way or another! Looks like you had lots of fun learning going on in your room last week.
